One of the oldest law firms in Dallas, we built our reputation on experience, versatility, and dedication. Founded in 1948, we began our law practice in the oil field, quickly becoming one of the premiere oil and gas law firms in the Southwest. During the '60s and '70s, we expanded our client base to include banks and real estate developers. In the '80s, we were known for our representation of small businesses and entrepreneurs struggling to compete. During the '90s, we set ground-breaking precedents in employment law and antitrust. Today, we are a boutique litigation firm representing executives, inventors, and investors.

RECENT ACTIVITIES

Employment Law

Kilgore settled 40 employment law cases in 2008. Many of these were resolved in weeks. Kilgore represented CEOs and executives from a variety of enterprises including a chip manufacturing and equipment supply business, a bank, a national dry cleaning company, an oil and gas investment firm, a public lottery business, and an international building company. Kilgore also represented physicians in partnership disputes and a health care personnel provider in defense of a class action overtime case. Kilgore employment lawyers represented workers from protected classes who experienced discrimination, sexual harassment and retaliation. In connection with the cataclysmic changes in the economy, Kilgore represented brokers from the most well known brokerage firms as well as traders from TXU. Kilgore also represented numerous mortgage company employees, some of whom were terminated for blowing the whistle on their employers.

Investor Representation

Kilgore represented an investment company in recovering its collateral after the authorities swept in, seized the assets of another company, and took this investor's assets in the sweep. Kilgore advised a hotel designer in his buyout of his design firm. Kilgore advised a Fortune 500 bank, in resolving a financial dispute, and numerous owners in title disputes. We obtained a judgment in favor of a defrauded investor regarding an oil-drilling venture. A gas lease was creatively settled by selling the surface of a tract at a substantial price in order to resolve title issues. Kilgore also advised surface owners in disputes over excessive surface usages by oil and gas lessees. Kilgore represented corporations and individuals in enforcing insurance claims against insurance companies.

Protecting Inventors

In 2008, Kilgore's revenues from patent and intellectual property litigation increased four fold. Kilgore resolved a copyright dispute for a New York artist against several large corporations. We also advised an international cosmetics company in resolving a theft of trade secrets action in a Dallas district court.
