Experience Counts
Kilgore Law was originally founded in 1947 by John Kilgore and his son, John Kilgore, Jr. They were joined by James Kilgore, brother of the senior. The firm began in Wichita Falls, Texas, where John Kilgore represented clients in the oil and gas business. After WWII, as the oil business grew, the Kilgores moved their law practice to Dallas to be near large banks with financing for oil transactions. After graduating from Harvard Law School, John Kilgore Jr. did substantial legal work for J. H. Whitney & Company, a New York investment firm. The work involved investments in Venezuelan oil and gas properties. Eventually, the son left Kilgore Law and became a partner at Whitney. His fluency in Spanish was a major factor in his success. The Kilgores consented to the continuation of their law practice under its original name because they wanted clients to be able to obtain information and documents pertaining to matters long closed. All of the Kilgores are now deceased. Kilgore Law is one of the few law firms in Dallas that has continued to practice under its original name for over 60 years.

RECENT ACTIVITIES
Employment Law
Kilgore + Kilgore settled 50 employment law cases in 2010. Many of these were resolved in weeks. Kilgore + Kilgore represented CEOs and executives from a variety of enterprises including a financial services company, a telecommunications company, a Fortune 500 computer services company, an auto supply company, and an international homebuilding company. Kilgore + Kilgore also represented physicians in contract disputes. Kilgore + Kilgore employment lawyers represented workers from protected classes who experienced discrimination, sexual harassment, and retaliation.
Investor Representation
In 2010, Kilgore + Kilgore represented a showcase car collector in recovering insurance proceeds and advised a software designer in his buyout of his insurance vendor firm. Kilgore + Kilgore also advised a Fortune 500 bank in resolving a financial dispute and numerous owners in title disputes. Kilgore + Kilgore represented corporations and individuals in enforcing insurance claims against insurance companies. On behalf of a swindled investor, Kilgore + Kilgore won a jury verdict and judgment. Kilgore + Kilgore also represented a family in a FINRA arbitration to recover the family fortune.
Protecting Inventors
In 2010, Kilgore + Kilgore represented a Chinese corporation in defending a trademark case. We continue to represent an Italian jewelry company in asserting its copyright infringement claims.
