One of the Oldest Law Firms in Dallas

Kilgore & Kilgore was built over the past 67 years on reputation, experience, versatility and dedication. Our law practice began in the oil field and became one of the premier oil and gas law firms in the Southwest. During the 60s and 70s, we expanded to include banks and real estate developers. In the 80s, we represented small family owned businesses and entrepreneurs struggling to compete. During the 90s, we set ground-breaking precedents in employment law and antitrust lawsuits. Today, we are known as Kilgore & Kilgore.

Office in Dallas

Kilgore Law has moved to a new location in the same neighborhood that the former office was located, but now the current address is 3141 Hood Street, Suite 500, Dallas, Texas 75219.

Experience Counts

Kilgore & Kilgore was founded by John Kilgore and his son, John Kilgore Jr. They were joined by James Kilgore, brother of the senior. The firm began in Wichita Falls, Texas, where John Kilgore represented clients in the oil and gas business. As the oil business grew after WWII, the Kilgores moved their law practice to Dallas to be near banks with financing for oil transactions. After graduating from Harvard Law School, John Kilgore Jr. performed legal work for J. H. Whitney & Company, a New York investment firm. That work involved investments in Venezuelan oil and gas properties. Eventually, the son left Kilgore & Kilgore to become a partner at Whitney. The Kilgores consented to the continuation of their law practice under its original name because they wanted clients to be able to obtain information and documents pertaining to matters long closed. The Kilgores are now deceased.
